Simplex System Controls, Inc.
is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join our team.
The Purchasing Specialist will be expected to execute and maintain a centralized purchasing function to drive Simplex's success.
Responsibilities include to manage the organization's needs for required goods and services, ensure goods and services meet the organization's quality and technical specifications standards, within budget, and work closely with other functional areas within the organization to achieve supply goals.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Handle the day-to-day activities of the purchasing department.
Work closely with our internal project management/engineering and operations teams as well as outside suppliers to determine purchasing needs to meet project requirements.
Identify and select quality suppliers of goods and services.
Conduct research on potential suppliers.
Gather and prepare documents such as requests for quotes, proposals, and purchase terms and conditions for suppliers for goods and services the company requires.
Issue requests for quotations to suppliers on new parts and established parts to get competitive bids, updated pricing, and delivery schedules.
Negotiate purchasing terms with suppliers such as price, quality of goods, and delivery date requirements.
Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders for production, non-production, and services with approved suppliers.
Maintain pricing files, and a schedule of upcoming price increases.
Work with suppliers to update pricing on a timely basis to support Simplex quoting and maintain the required profit margin.
Develop and update work procedures, instructions, or standard operating procedures as needed.
Track stock and vendor-managed inventories of supplies, ensure they are at appropriate levels, and restock items when required.

Detail oriented, strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills.
Possess strong problem-solving skills.
Focus with a sense of urgency when required.
Experience/Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum 5 years of purchasing department operations experience, including sourcing suppliers, negotiations, buying, and supplier performance management.
Prior manufacturing purchasing and/or buying experience in a Make to Order or Engineer to Order environment.
Prior experience in contract management, contract negotiation, and preparation of purchase orders.
Understanding of electrical and pneumatic components.
Ability to understand and read blueprints, materials/technical specifications.
Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP system; JobBOSS & UniPoint preferred.
