Summary:
Successful candidate will perform various tasks to support laboratory technical staff, including urine specimen procurement, specimen processing, and lab testing.
Responsibilities Receive and assist accessioning of urine specimens Assist specimen processing and testing Store and retrieve specimens Perform screening (IA) according to established standard operating procedures Assist in preventive/daily maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control procedures of analytical instruments Ship specimen to reference laboratories Restock and organize inventory Maintain cleanliness of the lab area Dispose waste Perform clerical duties Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or Bachelor degree.
Previous laboratory experience and/or training preferred, including but not limited to customer service, specimen processing, and laboratory support in a hospital or reference laboratory setting Demonstrated proficiency in word processing and laboratory information systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on frequent basis (up to 50% of time) or continuous waling or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).
Experience:
0-1 yr work experience in a laboratory/medical environment including data entry.
