Insurance Verifier
The Insurance Verifier supports the Billing department's initiatives by completing patient verifications, authorization, program enrollments, and collections. This role works closely with our patients and operations team from both Kovach Eye Institute (KEI) and Ophthalmology Surgery Center of Illinois (OSCI)by communicating on scheduled visits, procedures, and outstanding balances. This role requires strong attention to detail and ability to multitask while ensuring a positive experience for both our new and existing patients, physicians and employees at KEI and OSCI.Essential FunctionsExecutes the completion of, insurance verification, benefit investigations and prior authorizationsResponsible for servicing patients by answering questions about any bills both over the phone or in personResponsible for Posting PaymentsEnsures clinical efficiency and operational flow by actively ensuring all EMR to do's are expedited in a timely mannerSecures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing, upkeeping and safeguarding medical records, while keeping patient information confidentialMaintains strong communication with multiple departmentsResponsible for administering and following up on Patient CollectionsConducts daily balancing and is responsible for the ensuring proper closing for the day.CompetenciesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExceptional interpersonal and patient facing skillsProficient Medicare, Medicaid & Commercial Insurance knowledgeEfficient time management, planning, and organizing skillsDemonstrates the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact fostering a positive attitudeAbility to function independently in a high-paced and at times stressful environment while remaining professional and calmAbility to prioritize and handle a variety of tasksExhibits strong commitment to excellence, willing to go the extra mile for patients and coworkersRequired EducationHigh school diploma or equivalentPreferred ExperienceOphthalmic BackgroundPolish/ Spanish speakingEMR experienceBilling / ICD-10 Coding experienceOther Duties - This position, and all others at Kovach Eye Institute, may be modified at any time.
