As a buyer/planner, you will be critical to success of the company by procuring materials, components, supplies and services for assigned commodities or projects. You will also be obtaining quotes, negotiating purchase agreements and maintains supplier relationship. Monitor supplier performance and deliver results for cost and on-time delivery. Plan production, order material, and schedule work centers to achieve established business unit objectives. You will identify potential capacity bottlenecks and material delivery problems, and support business unit managers in resolving them as well as root-cause analysis to prevent them in the future. Negotiate major purchasing contracts, blanket orders and long term purchase agreements. You will be responsible for building a partnership with all key and preferred suppliers. You will also collaborate with account managers to resolve customer delivery issues.
Requirements
5 or more years of experience in both purchasing and planning is asked. The ideal candidate should have the ability to read drawings and interpret technical data, experience in managing a process to create sourcing savings and strong skills in managing projects and multi-tasking. Existing relationships with vendors (machine shops, fabrication shops, etc) will be a plus.
Education
Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
